All of you women I’ve met, in my personal and professional life, you occupy a special place in my heart. I cannot tell the number of times, you have bowled me over with your kindness, compassion, authenticity, resilience, strength and courage.

All the stories I’ve heard of crushing circumstances and how you rose above them, some of you still bruised and hurting but still smiling and loving, I have learnt from you. You’ve been my inspiration.

Please know, you are all goddesses in human form. The world might have made you believe otherwise, but if you were to sit down for a while (I know that is hard) and be still, you will become aware of your strength and more importantly of your light that emanates from within and that shines sure and bright even on days you do not see it. So, please don’t stop believing in your incredible capacity for goodness (godliness).

Even though I am not a great believer of the Creation story, I do believe that after God made the man, she looked at her creation and thought “I can do better” and then made the woman. We are not the lesser sex, we are the enhanced version.

We are multi-faceted, multi-talented, multi-everything. We just have to believe in ourselves more. My gratitude to all the women who believed in me when I couldn’t see the light in myself.

I think we should spend a minute (or 5 or 30) in silence, not in mourning, but in celebration of who we have become and who we are in the process of becoming. Rediscover our wings and our halo and revel in our goddessness.
