The Silver Sheroes Series is dedicated to women over 50, to help them to step out and own their strength, beauty and wisdom.  To make them feel good, look good and capture the experience and memories in beautiful legacy portraits.

Women over 50 have a wealth of knowledge, insights and wisdom learned from years of dealing with challenges.  I am committed to sharing these stories of these unsung sheroes as a means of acknowledging their resilience and grace and also to serve as an inspiration to all.

Lovely Jody is one such Silver Shero and this is her story –

I was bought up on a farm with a fantastic childhood full of freedom and adventure as well as hard work. Many strange things have happened to me over my life that others may not find funny but I do as its good to laugh at yourself.  I breed and show horses as well as other pets my latest baby is a french bulldog who are the clowns of the dog world.  Sadie is a spunk.

I have a daughter who keeps me grounded and can tend to be the parent sometimes.

We all have bumps and hard time along the way but if you wake up in the morning be grateful, don’t grizzle about getting older because some don’t get that chance.

What words of wisdom, based on your personal experience, would you like to share with others who struggle to see their own inner light and inner power?

Love yourself, we are all beautiful in our own right.

How does being the woman you are today make you uniquely powerful?

I am unique, there is no one else like me.

Why are beautiful photos of yourself important to you now?

I’m always the one taking the photos. I’m proud to be in my 50s and I want to document it.

Editor’s Note :

Jody’s session was eminently enjoyable. She warned me early on that she has a thick skin and nothing can faze her. So, I did try out a couple of off-colour jokes, which true to word, didn’t get under her skin.

What impressed me most about Jody is her capacity for hard work. Looking after, grooming, training and taking her horses for shows – she does it all by herself. It’s her happy place, surrounded by horses and all things horsey.

Jody’s newest baby is her bulldog puppy, Sadie, who was sleeping peacefully during the whole session, so Jody had to wake her up for her photos with Sadie, who true to typical baby fashion was not too pleased to have her sleep interrupted. But we did get some sweet photos of Mum and bub 😊
